This year Harvard and Baylor universities released the findings of their international, longitudinal study on human flourishing. They found that people live happier, healthier, and richer lives when they have strong social connections.
But there are so many things that get in the way of those social connections. Phones are a big one. How many times have you found yourself at the dinner table with friends or family, and one (or all of you) is on your phone? We’re so distracted by what’s going on digitally that we forget about the people around us.
One of the easiest ways we can strengthen our social connections is to have deeper conversations with each other. As Mr. Rogers said, “There isn't anyone you couldn't learn to love once you've heard their story.” Sharing our stories with loved ones can build bridges of understanding and bind us closer together.
